Carhartt WIP FW23 Has Us Wishing For Colder Days
After the launch of its love-heart-filled FW23 preview, Carhartt WIP is back to show its wider offering for this season through its FW23 lookbook. Building on its vast archive, it's yet another show of the brand mastering its craft and elevating seasonal staples through the lens of its workwear history.
Moving into the peak of summer, long days of sunshine are (unfortunately) numbered and this new drop is a look towards what the rest of the year holds — remember layering?
Split into both a menswear and womenswear lookbook (the women's is shown above while the men's can be seen below) the new collection takes its inspiration from an eclectic span of places. The first of those places is the Bloomsbury Group, a set of English writers, artists, and philosophers from the early 20th century.
Looking towards the group's dandyish stylings and bohemian artistry, FW23's soft corduroy fabrics are influenced by the group's tastes as well as its paisley prints which are a highlight of the vast selection.
Used across knitwear and outerwear, the paisley is most notably used on fleece jackets which are an early contender for the fleece of the season — following on from Stussy's 8-Ball Fleece which undoubtedly was the hottest of last year.
This is then contrasted by some more tactile pieces, such as military-inspired bomber jackets or utility wear that builds on its outdoor-focused capsule from last season.
And bringing everything together is, of course, the usual work-inspired styles Carhartt WIP is known for, including chore jackets and lots of denim.
