Editor’s Notes: ASICS and Cecilie Bahnsen’s collaborative partnership is continuing this season, that’s after the duo revealed two Mary Jane-ified pairs of the former’s new GT-2160 silhouette.

Following a hand-embellished sneaker collab back in 2022, ASICS and Bahnsen continue to celebrate the intersection of everyday couture, movement, and ease, as well as fusing Bahnsen’s epochal feminine DNA with ASICS’s technical expertise.

Available now via the Cecilie Bahnsen webstore, the sneakers — which are informed with sci-fi notes — arrive front and center of a campaign shot by Japanese photographer, Takashi Homma, which is designed to “exude a sense of freedom,” according to the release.

Landing in two colorways (black and white), the sneakers are a feminine and contemporary take on a classic Mary Jane shoe, but realized in sneaker form.

Bahnsen — whose work sits on the periphery of couture and ready-to-wear — is said to have been an admirer of ASICS for some time, so the fact the pair’s collaborative partnership is continuing shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The only thing here that could well be considered a surprise is that we haven’t seen any Mary Jane sneakers sooner. Still, they’re here now at least.
