In case you missed it, Converse is the king of big shoes. In recent years, the brand has honed its knack for making chunky shoes, like the platformed Run Star Motion sneaker and even some beefy post-sneaker footwear.

As the sneaker-loafer conversation heats up, Converse joins the discussion with its own big 'ol formal shoe: the chunked-up Trekwave loafer.

Converse has been tapped into the sneaker loafer movement technically. A couple of years ago, the brand introduced us to the All-Star loafer, a sneaker-loafer effort finished with formal tassels and Chuck Taylor's rubber sole.

But the All-Star loafer isn't nearly as stocky as Converse's new Trekwave loafer.

Following the Trekwave "chunky sole" formula, the Converse loafer has that familiar extra-thick base reminiscent of hiking shoes.

Above the seriously stacked sole, however, the Converse loafer means business.

The All-Star loafer presents a classic penny loafer design up top, marrying sophistication with chunky desires for the latest shoe.

Converse offers its hybrid loafer in two stylish options: a creamy leather version in black-and-white and an all-black loafer with smooth suede uppers, both expected to launch sometime in July.

With all these preppy hybrids coming out, the rest of 2024 is shaping up to be a big finale for the loafer bois.
