Despite the show receiving brilliant reviews for its third season, Netflix has decided to axe Marvel's Daredevil, Variety reports.

In an official statement released this week, the streaming platform wrote that while it remains "tremendously proud" of the show's accomplishments, there will not be a fourth season on the platform. The move comes after canning other Marvel shows airing on Netflix such as Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

While acknowledging that the cancellation is "painful for the fans," Netflix stated that it feels "it best to close this chapter on a high note." The statement continued to thank showrunner Erik Oleson, the writers, crew, and cast, singling out show lead Charlie Cox and thanking fans for supporting the show.

Netflix won't be binning the previous three seasons, however, stating that they will remain on the streaming service "for years to come," with the character of Daredevil living on in future Marvel projects.
