Double Tap to Zoom

After serving up headless tracksuits and feral shoes, doublet is back with (surprisingly) its least wild sneaker collaboration yet. Mind you, I said least. The latest upholds that unexpected doublet energy that we anticipate with its seasonal collections and shoe collabs.

doublet links up with Converse for its latest team-up, which happens to be a low-top hybrid Converse sneaker. Indeed, doublet's Converse shoes marry All-Star's best, particularly the iconic Chuck 70 and Jack Purcell models.

At first glance, the doublet x Converse sneaker mirrors a nice Jack Purcell sneaker, finished with smooth matte black leather uppers topped with exposed white stitching. The collaborative shoe even wears the same single black stripe across the layered toe.

Seems nice and normal so far, right? Well, hold onto your laces.

From the side view, you see, doublet's Converse sneakers present an ultra-platformed sole, essentially stacking the rubbery Jack Purcell base on top of the sleek All-Star sole —keeping both badges as a reminder of the fusion sneaker vibes.

The doublet x Converse first appeared at the Japanese brand's Spring/Summer 2024 presentation. Although we were a little bit distracted by the hoverboard struts and Tommy Cash dinner table, the stacked Converse shoes were very much present on the catwalk (and on hoverboards).

Following a pre-sale at Dover Street Market Ginza, the doublet x Converse sneakers launched at select retailers on April 26. For the doublet fans eyeing the pairs for their summer rotations, I'd act fast: the thick-soled sneakers are already flying off shelves as I type this.

Note that the shoes are unlikely to see wide release because even among Doublet's many stockists, only Japanese stockists are able to stock Japanese Converse sneakers due to a licensing quirk. But, on the other hand, doublet's international infamy could make a general drop possible.

Many are looking to stomp into summer, doublet-style, it seems.
