Lululemon

When you think Lululemon, you likely think of yoga gear, running clothes and, you know, general athleisure. But you do think of fleece? You should.

Leave it to a Lululemon, a master of making the kind of effortless clothes that can be tossed on without stress, to cook up the perfect fleece.

Maybe this isn't all that big of a secret, though.

Lululemon's "High Pile Fleece" jacket and vest are already pretty popular items according to its own website, which describes the "Fawn Brown" colors as "trending." Which makes sense — 'tis the season, you know, and the coffee-flavored hue is both versatile and distinct from the classic cream fleece.

But the benefits don't stop there.

For one, this isn't a cheapo fast-fashion fleece meant to be disposed at the end of the season. This is a considered mid-layer cut for comfort — note the looser cut at the torso and waist — and utility, with a thoughtful stand collar that can be zipped up to block out the chill. There's a lot of invisible effort put into this sort of thing.

They're also made of a double-sided fleece that's as insulating as a long hug. If you're used to wearing single-sided fleeces, this is a game-changer and a crucial element that really ups the ante beyond the fleeces of old.

As a vest, Lululemon's fleece works terrifically well in transitional climes but the jacket iteration is a perpetual staple for anyone susceptible to winter frost (which is basically everyone, no?).

Retailing at $198 for the jacket and $148 for the vest, Lululemon's fleece layers admittedly aren't the cheapest layers on the market. But that's also kinda the point. You don't wanna skimp on quality when it comes to year after year comfort, do you?
