Don’t worry, you’re not alone. For a silhouette with such a famous sibling, very few people know that there is such thing as the Air Force 3. One person is very familiar with the silhouette, though, and he goes by the name of NIGO.

Returning to the underrated design for the fifth time in the past two years, NIGO digs into the silhouette’s ‘80s roots for inspiration.

For the NIGO x Nike Air Force 3 Low ‘Midnight Navy’, the legendary Japanese designer enlists the help of Pendleton who outfits the upper in its signature high-quality wool.

Central to this shoe’s identity, the Pendleton wool upper channels retro varsity jacket character which is amplified by premium leather accents, chain-stitched details to the tongue, and quilted satin lining.

And the ‘80s inspiration goes way beyond the shoe itself. Part of the allure of this release is the packaging and accessories.

Each pair is complemented by a felt flag, chenille ‘O’, and chrome Swoosh badge to round out the varsity, ‘homecoming’ roots of the project.

The box features retro graphics in-keeping with the theme, making this one of the most comprehensively successful drops in recent memory. Because while the shoes are the main event, we all love a bit of celebration around it. And the above has us cheering from the bleachers.
