Nike's Air Max looks best in soccer uniform.

The Air Max 90 "Bright Citrus" sneaker may look familiar to football fans, and understandably so. The newest black-and-orange pair draws inspiration from Nike's Hypervenom I cleats, famously worn by Brazilian soccer player Neymar Jr. (who is now a PUMA athlete).

Nike's Air Max borrows just about everything from the iconic soccer shoes, except the cleated bottoms. It features the classic textured uppers and tongue, big Swoosh wrapping the side, and the unmistakable skull graphic.

Of course, the Hypervenom energy is married with signature Air Max 90 details, like the elevated heel, which features a small window showcasing orange-colored Air technology.

The Air Max 90 is clearly inspired by Neymar's once-favorite Nike boot, but the textural design is also somewhat reminiscent of 2025's "Volcano" sneakers. Much like the previous lava-level take, the "Bright Citrus" is also pretty hot.

It's not the first time that the sportswear giant turned a famous soccer cleat into an Air Max sneaker. Nike has released Air Max 95s inspired by the Total 90. Not to mention, there was an entire pack of long-tongue sneakers, which included the Air Max Plus, referencing the Ronaldinho-stamped Tiempo.

And if there's anything we've learned with these efforts, it's that Nike cleats look good in Air Max form (and vice versa).

Regarding Nike's Air Max 90 "Bright Citrus," it's expected to release on the brand's website on May 21. It'll be accompanied by a "Zest" colorway inspired by the Total 90 Laser.
