This Air Max 95 Is All Techni-, No -Color
In the pantheon of Nike Air Max, the Air Max 95 stands above all others as the most techy, mean looking silhouette. Its substantial, bubbled sole unit and layered upper combine for an almost industrial take on sports footwear.
When the aforementioned structural features work in tandem with a color palette that’s also geared towards minimal, brutalist ideals, you’ve got a serious problem on your hands. Exhibit A: The Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble Tech Black/Smoke Grey.
Since the subtle reshaping of the Air Max 95 sole unit in 2025 which aimed to bring the silhouette closer to its 1995 shape by enlarging the air bubble at the heel, the 95 has been on a run of historical proportions.
Every week, we’re treated to a vibrant new colorway that seems to outdo the last one. This time around, though, there’s nothing vibrant in sight. In fact, this drop dials down the vibes considerably, replacing them with dark techy influences. We’re not complaining, though.
The Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble Tech sees the layered upper of the OG 95 swapped out for armored mesh; the definitive undulating lines along each side become transparent strips to mimic the shape.
While classic 95 models generally execute a gradient effect on the upper with stepped colors on each layer, the single-layer Tech reissue features a smoother gradient printed on the armored mesh fabric.
Evolving from the black sole unit up to a Smoke Grey color at the ankle, the finish is moody and understated, aligning perfectly with the newly streamlined Tech makeup.
