After a sneak peek courtesy of Anthony Davis at the NBA All-Star Game, official product shots of the "Lakers" Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro have found their way online via Sneakersnstuff’s release calendar, signalling that the drop could happen very soon.

The sneaker, which has since been taken off Sneakersnstuff’s site, was initially rumored to be released in late March, though the SNS release calendar briefly had them penned in for an April 1 release date. Whether that release date has been changed and that is why the sneakers were taken off the calendar is unclear.

The black/purple/gold color scheme is an unmistakable nod to Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers. The Zoom Kobe 5 Protro is a revamped retro, adding contemporary technology to a largely unchanged, OG design.

Following Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing in January, Kobe product sold out on Nike’s site, prompting rumors that the brand actually pulled the product from its online store. This was apparently not the case though, as a Nike spokesperson revealed the product had, in fact, sold out.

Nike has yet to announce how it will handle releases of Kobe’s revamped signature line of sneakers in the future, after a Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro drop was reportedly canceled.
