The fashion industry continues to take a hit amid the coronavirus pandemic. Now Patagonia has announced plans to halt all operations due to concerns over the outbreak.

Patagonia's CEO Rose Marcario made the announcement yesterday in a statement posted to the company’s website, noting that the brand will be closing all of its stores and stop taking orders online.

“As COVID-19 spreads — and is now officially a pandemic — we are taking additional safety measures to protect our employees and customers,” Marcario wrote. “The scale of impact is still unknown, and we want to do our part to protect our community especially while testing availability is unknown.”

Patagonia promises it will continue to pay employees throughout the closure. It is unclear how long these measures will last, but the brand assures it will continually "reassess and post an update."
