Thinking of relocating? Traveling? Or investing? Whatever the case, it can't hurt to have a look at the list of the most expensive countries in the world to live in — and thanks to a new study published by Ceoworld Magazine, we now know the priciest places to live right now based on a cost-of-living index.

The ranking considers five major metrics — cost of living, rent, groceries, eating out, and purchasing power — and uses notoriously expensive New York City as a benchmark, with an index score of 100.

Switzerland tops the list once again with a score of 122.4, leading the charge for European countries, which dominated the list. It's followed by Norway (101.43), Iceland (100.48), Japan (83.35) and Denmark (83) in the top five.

Further down the list you’ll find the United States (20th), the United Kingdom (27th), Saudi Arabia (57th), and Russia (82nd).
