Double Tap to Zoom

Following its major overhaul that reverberated throughout the sporting world in February, Nike ACG has finally dropped its first-ever official hiking boot. And, as its other refreshed product would lead you to believe, it's nothing like the clunky trail stompers of yesteryear.

The Zegama Hike is an evolution of the popular trail running shoe, the Zegama, combining its trail-running DNA with a sturdier design for hiking longer distances.

“Our athletes really love the Zegama, and they told us that if I can run 100 miles in it, it doesn't actually need to change that much to make a great hiking shoe,” Brenden McAleese, Director of ACG Footwear, tells Highsnobiety.

The hiking upgrade is intentionally designed to be more of a hybrid hiking-runner than a fully fledged boot. With its lightweight construction, the Zegama Hike is built for modern hikers who want a shoe they know will perform on long distances, but that’s also versatile enough to wear on a trail run or just day-to-day around the neighborhood.

ACG tested prototypes extensively on trails around the world, from Oregon to the Alps. It was fit-tested by a local running club in Korea and an urban hiking group in Los Angeles, along with others who pushed the silhouette through 10-hour hikes with full packs to ensure it performed in real-world conditions.

For the design, McAleese explains, “[ACG's] taken the best of Nike running innovation and delivered that in a hiking solution.”

The trail-tackling shoe features a mid-cut upper to provide support and an ankle gaiter to keep trail debris out. Underfoot, it has a stacked foam construction with a plush, responsive layer of ZoomX foam that’s cradled by a more protective, rigid foam to enhance durability and stability on uneven terrain. Underfoot, the Zegama Hike wears a Vibram Megagrip outsole, so you can trust it to keep you steady as you pick your way down loose, uneven paths in all conditions.

ACG Zegama Hike will be available in July 2026 at Nike ACG's website and select retail locations.
