Nike's Swooshless Jordan Is a Meticulously Minimal Masterclass In Dad Shoes
In a world of maximalist sneakers screaming for your attention, the Air Jordan Ultra does the opposite.
No side Swoosh. No loud branding. Just a clean, considered silhouette that lets the details do the talking, and there are plenty of them if you know where to look.
The Ultra arrives in “Sail/Gamma Grey”, a neutral palette that feels deliberately low-key for a Jordan Brand release.
Sail mesh takes over the majority of the upper, keeping things light and breathable, while stone suede overlays on the sides and heel add just enough structure. The laser-cut elephant print mudguard across the forefoot is the kind of heritage nod that only the right people will clock, and that's exactly the point.
The lace area pushes things into slightly futuristic territory, with moulded Gamma Grey eyelet panels framing the lacing system. Royal accents on the Jumpman, tongue and heel logo are the only real colour in the whole shoe, small, but they earn their place.
Around the back, a moulded heel counter bleeds into the Sail midsole, a visible Air unit sitting inside for all-day comfort without compromising the clean aesthetic. Dark smoky grey wraps the heel cluster, and underfoot, an Old Royal traction zone and raised Jordan branding on the midfoot plate round things off nicely.
Proof that the loudest shoe in the room doesn't always win.
