Nike is always in a process of recycling retro silhouettes & why wouldn’t it? With an archive that stretches back half a century, there’s a wealth of incredible, forgotten designs that are worth updating for the modern day.

But while this usually entails finding silhouettes that were lifestyle-leaning and slightly rejigging them, recent months have seen Nike opting for something much more specialist. On the heels of Nike’s Moon Shoe reissue, we’re treated to the Nike Sprint Sister, ready for 2026.

Originally released all the way back in 1979, the Sprint Sister was a women's-only track shoe and one of the first of its kind.

Some 50 years later, it’s back; spikes replaced, ready for lifestyle stardom. And it makes total sense. A quick look at the best-selling silhouettes across all brands luxury and non-luxury right now shows that the flattest shoes are the most popular.

But while much of the Sprint Sister’s competitors have swapped sports palettes for lifestyle-centric neutrals or retro two-tones, the latest Sprint Sister leans into its sprinting background.

The shoe’s leather upper is delivered in a subtle gold hue accompanied by a red Swoosh to the medial side of the foot and a navy Swoosh to the lateral side.

Alternating colors extend to the tongue tab, which sits in red on the left shoe and black on the right. This energetic palette still feels as if it’d be at home on the starting blocks at the Olympics, and offers a welcome departure from the pared-back colorways on offer elsewhere.
